LF5（5A05）This is an alloy of aluminum and magnesium with low strength. It does not respond to hardening by heat treatment. The alloy has good corrosion resistance and acceptable weldability. It is suitable for spot welding, atomic hydrogen welding, gas welding, and argon arc welding. The machinability is poor in the reverse state, and the semi-cold hardening state is well.
Cold deformation of the alloy can increase strength, but reduce plasticity. The plasticity in the annealed state is higher, and the plasticity in the semi-cold hardened state is acceptable.
Applications
LF5 （5A05）AL-MG series alloy is usually used to manufacture welded pipelines, welded fuel tanks and other liquid containers, and other parts that require high process plasticity, good corrosion resistance, and medium load; Alloy wire rods and rivets need to be anodized. Similar like 5456 alloys, LF5 5A05 alloys are commonly used in the manufacturer of armor plate, high strength structural parts, storage tanks, pressure vessels and parts of marine products, etc.
