Recarburizers are carbon-rich additives widely used in steelmaking and foundry operations to replenish carbon losses, adjust the carbon content of molten iron and steel, and help control the microstructure of the finished metal.
During steelmaking, carbon may be lost through oxidation during the melting and holding stages, causing the carbon content of molten steel to fall below the target level. Recarburizers are added to compensate for these losses and adjust the carbon content to the required specification, helping achieve the desired chemical composition and mechanical properties of the finished steel.
Recarburizers are commonly charged together with steel scrap and other furnace materials to promote carbon absorption and minimize oxidation losses. Excessive additions directly into the molten metal should be avoided.

Common types of recarburizers include graphitized petroleum coke (GPC), calcined petroleum coke (CPC), and coal-based recarburizers, each with distinct chemical compositions and performance characteristics.
Coal-based recarburizers generally contain higher levels of impurities and sulfur, with relatively lower carbon absorption efficiency. Depending on their quality and application conditions, they may increase the risk of casting defects such as gas porosity and slag inclusions, making them more suitable for applications with less stringent quality requirements.
Graphitized petroleum coke recarburizers, by contrast, offer high fixed carbon content, low sulfur and nitrogen levels. These characteristics promote efficient carbon dissolution and absorption, supporting consistent carbon control. They are particularly suitable for ductile iron, gray iron, precision castings, and specialty steel production where strict control of carbon and impurities is required.
Please provide the required recarburizer grade, chemical specifications (fixed carbon, sulfur, ash, etc.), particle size, quantity, delivery destination, and any additional packaging or inspection requirements.
